Client:
Broker/Dealer providing execution services on major equity and derivatives markets
Engagement:
The client was planning to implement a combined security reference database, replacing five product-specific legacy systems. There was a need for reference tools for the business groups that would access and use the data as well as the technology staff responsible for updating the data.
Deliverable:
In order to understand the structure of the database – including base indicative data, prices, income, corporate action events and risk metrics – we reviewed the design document, requirements definition and a test version of the system. As a result of our analysis, we identified improvements to how data was presented as well as how it was associated within the database.
These tools were introduced during the training and implementation phase.
Result:
Both sets of users, occasional and daily, readily accepted the reference tools which were also used to train new staff. These job aids have since been updated to reflect changes in system functionality to meet business and regulatory needs.
